The default language of a project

Updated over a month ago

When creating a project, a default language must be defined. This will have some consequences that we will detail below.

When you create a project, you must choose a default language.
English will automatically be offered as the default language.

However, you can choose another language using the dropdown menu.

8 languages are available (French, English, Dutch, German, Italian, Spanish, Portuguese, Flemish)

Example below with English on this profile ⬇️

⚠️ Once you have selected and confirmed your default project language, you will no longer be able to modify it.

What to remember: once your language is chosen, it becomes a mandatory field for all translatable fields in the settings of a project and also of the tool.

Example: I set English as the default on my project.
When I want to create an indicator, the "English" field for the name of the indicator must be filled in.

The same rule will apply for:

  • the name of a data item

  • the name of a tag

  • the name of a category or subcategory

  • the name of an emission factor

  • the name of a dashboard (tool side)

  • the name of an ambition (tool side)

  • the name of an action (tool side)

If within your organisation you have employees using a profile language different from the one chosen as default for your project, then you can provide translations in the corresponding fields.

(below translation in French and Italian)

ℹ️ For users who use a profile language different from the project language, they will first see the information in their profile language.

However, if no translation is provided, it is the default project language that will be displayed.
