When publishing your carbon footprint assessment, whether on the ADEME website or with other organisations, it is very useful to publish it in a regulatory format, which is called the BEGES format or the GHG Protocol format.
It is through this configuration that you will be able to check, and if necessary modify, the setting of the BEGES or GHG Protocol categories for each data point in your project.
It should be noted that these categories allow for the determination of the belonging of data to type Scope 1, 2 or 3 (the mapping table between the different categories and the Scope types is at the bottom of this article).
You will then find this link between categories and Scope during your regulatory export, available through the export functionality of the Collection.
Example of BEGES export
We detail how to proceed below 👇
When you are in the administration section (red banner), and access the collection template, you can click on "Set for regulatory export".
You then arrive on the page where you can set the BEGES or GHG categories for each of your collection lines.
The latter, particularly if you have used many FE from ADEME, are already configured.
The setup is done automatically based on the categorization of the EF.
On the other hand, if you have other EFs that do not come from our initial database, or if you noticed an error in the default setup, you can modify the categorization yourself by clicking on the pencil icon at the end of the line.
Note that data without a category assigned by default are marked with a red exclamation point ⬇️
You can then choose the category that corresponds to your data.
If you modify the category set by default, this will be indicated to you by this pencil symbol.
However, you need to know in which category BEGES or GHG to classify your collection line.
To help you choose this category correctly, here are the matches between BEGES V5 categories, those of the Carbon Balance, and those of the GHG Protocol.
Then, you can also define the scope of the data for the GHG Protocol export.
4 options are available to you:
Minimal: mandatory data to account for according to GHGp
Minimal FLAG: to be used only with agricultural/agribusiness data involved in livestock and land use.
Optional: non-mandatory data in GHGp but you choose to account for them because you simply want visibility on this data or because they represent a significant share of your emissions.
Excluded: data that are not counted according to GHGp but you still want to have an overview and manage them.
You now know how to configure your BEGES export on the Toovalu Impact tool!
To then export your project in the desired format, simply go to the tool's collection, click on the Data export icon and select the consolidated regulatory export that interests you, BEGES or GHG Protocol ⬇️
ℹ️ The setup of regulatory exports is available even if your campaign is closed. Be sure to go to the modification of your closed campaign to have control over your campaign template.
